Lyn began painting in watercolour and then worked in oils for short time before discovering that pastels provided the depth of colour she requires for her type of work. Since opening her first gallery in Quilpie four years ago, Lyn’s work has become popular with outback travellers as they collect her pictures to remind them of their experiences. Successful exhibitions in Brisbane have proved to Lyn that Australians who live in cities still have a love of outback landscapes and lifestyle.

The pastel paintings Lyn produces in her studio and gallery in Quilpie are sold to collectors throughout Australia and overseas. They are recognisable not only for the intense colour, but also for the fact that the pictures are not presented in the traditional manner of pastels. Lyn prefers to use distinctive gold frames without matts, a presentation she believes suits her style of painting.
